Neurographic art installation
The winter of 2022 is somewhat of a ‘deja vu‘. Despite high hopes and booster shots, we are still chained indoors by a harsh winter and an ominous virus called Omicron. The world hinted to us in futuristic novels – [‘Rabies’ by Borislav Pekic; ‘The Year of the Flood’ by Margaret Atwood] – where horrors of a deadly disease caused by a mutated virus turns into a chilling study of the human behavior.
Strangely, and unexpectedly, we are living in that world, surreal, and utterly… ‘flat’. Human faces obstructed by masks, conversations virtual, kisses shared through windowpanes… Yet, there is almost a proud boasting of the society that ‘the technology’ allowed us to stay ‘connected’. Is this the way we will communicate in times to come?
There is an urgency to revive ‘Connections‘, the essence of our living. Touch, embrace, laughter, celebration, compassion…Connections that bridge cultures, overcome disagreements…An urgency to find new ways of building and strengthening true connections that cannot be simulated or replaced by technology.
That, of course, means – our next collective project!
Neurographic(a) is a way of drawing that delineates the outer from the inner. The basic algorithm of this drawing technique involves a subconscious-driven tracings of lines, then ’rounding the corners’, smoothening their intersections and sharp angles, creating a seamless, rounded and pleasing connections among forces of our inner worlds and projecting these to the outer space of our existance in community and society.
This is the basic art technique that we will use to explore layers of connectivity that link an individual to the group and the community.
The theme our collective installation is Connections. It will start by⁸ exploring connections that are basis of our life and thinking, and progress to those that link individuals into groups and communities…building along an artistic concept that harnesses a power of art to drive the change…
