Entanglement

Acrylic pouring and drawing-equestrian

This is a story that combines physics, neuroscience, horse-riding and art inspirations. Well, it really is a story of our love and empathy for animals and their selfless way of giving back, passionately told to us by Marzia.

“I have dedicated my professional life to a pursuit of a better understanding of the brain. While our knowledge of the brain structure and function is growing at an impressive pace; neuroscience is still struggling to explain the basis of consciousness.

Many theories of ‘arising consciousness’ have been proposed. I especially like the one of entanglement. Quantum entanglement theory allows two particles, such as a photon and an electron, to establish a much closer relationship than the one predicted by classical physics.

It remains a mystery, scientific and otherwise, how I, a human, got so closely emotionally entangled with the large intelligent quadrupeds. My « classical » self, the one I grew up with, would have predicted a fairly distant relationship with horses. Yet, when I discovered horse riding a few years ago, the laws of classical physics ceased to exists. Everything after that was about entanglement of my little self spin with that of a horse.

Triggered by this mysterious physics of our spins in synch, emerged even more mysterious art – because, only images could describe this closely entangled relationship.

Perhaps this is where the mystery of consciousness unravels – the absolute truth sensed by two distant beings, entangled into a bliss of mutual trust, dependence and joy…and creation; or you can call this ‘awareness’ differently; or just paint it.”

Thank you Marzia for a fantastic presentation and a beautiful love story! Love your pouring art works, very dynamic and passionate. Human evolution has also been entangled with domestication of horses. Looking into the beautiful eyes of a horse (or a cat :-)), I wonder why they accepted us … “Approaching horse is to learn interacting and communicating with a different consciousness”, well said!
