Paper Moods

Gel monotype printing

Have you ever been mesmerized by wallpaper patterns? Repeated in a rhythm, floral or geometric, colorful, in the time of baroque…well, overwhelming.  Art Deco semi-moons in gold and black. Moroccan patterns, tiles of Portugal or Alhambra..

Modern minimalism of the late decade has suddenly been pushed away in favor of abundance of colors and decor in our troubled times. Klimt’s golden patterns as a background and a scene for figures, faces and life.

The Game 1 of our project explores magic of decorative patterns imprinted onto paper…stencils, organic, geometric, golden… Backgrounds of day or night; vibrant or delicate, colorful, organic, antiqued.  Many of these were created at our first, exploratory workshop.

Some of these prints were used to make ‘one of a kind’ cards, but…we just can’t wait to see them printed on couture fabrics and textured walls.  Or backdrops for our paintings and installations. They evoke moods of leisure and luxury, stories of the East, singing of spring and lushness of gardens. Imagination and warmth borne from a simple polymer gel plate.
