Gell print painting and drawing
Printmaking, etching, graphic design – all are involved techniques allowing a limited number of repeat prints. Specialized branches of visual arts. Well, modernity and innovation (of materials, media, textures, resources), with omnipresent internet and YT, brought in a democratization. Techniques simplified, materials easy to use and affordable, acceptance of styles and individuality unrestricted.
Yet, we all strive for refinement in our ability to achieve clarity of visual message. We work to understand possibilities of the technique, so that subtle cues of our messaging are in our control. It is the tool serving the purpose.
Refining the visual message means bringing in yet unexplored innovations…in Game 2, we innovate – gel prints brought to the next level merging seamlessly with other media…then expanding beyond the small scale of gel plates.
We make collections – each stretching the subject (close to heart or at least interest) into multiple explorations of broad themes and possibilities. The fast nature of the technique makes it possible to generate series of similar prints with small variations to create different esthetics. So, we explore Japan, Rothko, misty landscapes, figures, mysterious faces, still life…all emerging from a simple gel plate – pretty amazing!
