Alcohol ink paintings
Embarking on ‘Art Garden’ collaboration, we explored and studied actual living gardens as well as potential artistic concepts suited for the project.
Last year we indulged in flowing and transparent nature of alcohol inks; in ‘Art Garden’ we celebrated intensity of their coloration, boldness and energy of expression, modernity in exuberant compositions. Burst of summer, abstraction married with nature’s organic. Dreaming of flowery blouses and flowy summer dresses adorned with garden patterns. A pure artistic joy!
I almost never painted flowers – too preoccupied by concepts. But this took all of me, undividedly – I finally understood the attraction of so many artists to this ‘subject’ – remember our tribute to Georgia?
The first phase of this collective painting project was to unleash individual gardeners in us. A quick practical instruction on painting flowers with alcohol inks sparked individual innovations that exploded onto Yupo. We were indeed ready to plant the ‘Art Garden’.
