The Connected Brain
We were deep into assembling our ‘Connections’ project installation, when OHBM Brain-Art announced the theme of the 2022 Exhibition and competition – ‘The Connected Brain’.
The theme emerged as a way to counteract human alienation caused by the Covid pandemic and its effects on the brain and mental health, to seek rejuvenation and connectedness through arts.
Uncanny coincidence or just an universally felt need to reconnect?
The Exhibition explores the topic ‘connectedness’ under three axes:
Axis I. (dis/re)Connection with self
Axis II. (dis/re)Connection with others
Axis III. (dis/re)Connection with environment and nature
Needless to say, the like-mindedness of our group collective thinking in creating ‘Connections’ project and that of OHBM SIG got us in the state of urgency to complete the project as a Studio’s exhibition entry. This will be the second Brain Art exhibition featuring one of our collective projects.
The ‘small hurdle’ of getting giant mounted installations and other artwork all the way to Glasgow (the exhibit is in person this year, across the ocean) got an epic response in innovative solutions. Luckily, the event is hybrid, well suited to our ways – hence, rather than sending original installations, we have printed posters of the same size, rolled in canvases from the Habitat triptych, and printed a booklet to provide a context (concept) for our explorations of connected brain. Aman is our ‘insider’ – taking off to Glasgow with big poster rolls and canvases in her trail.
The conference and exhibit took place between June 19 – June 23, 2022. Our on-site exhibition display featured two group installations and the triptych ‘Habitat’ – the full entry (including a brochure) is appended below.
