Hand-made Christmas crafts and gifts
Here we are – Christmas around the corner, ends of the year coming together (again), making us think of new beginnings, fresh starts, big plans.
For our small art group this is the first Christmas together. The time calls for an ‘all out’ craftsmanship to adorn the season with hand-made decorations and gifts of art. A true Christmas Galore of ideas, delicate ornaments and meaningful gifts. Winter is good, simple and true…productive and introspective…
It is also a time for reflection – we came together just about a year ago to battle pandemic loneliness through art, projects that felt meaningful and brought togetherness. But, before we knew it, the bond became more genuine and organic – and passionate. Forget the pandemic, we are committed…
Otherwise, how to explain what we have accomplished in only a short year…way beyond any stretch of imagination that may have sneaked into our daydreams. Just browse through our website – our signature collective art project exhibited, awards won, four summer workshops documented in amazing catalogues and collections of reflective and original artwork displayed in over 30 video presentations on this website – we are one extraordinarily productive art studio! Intertwined with (brain) science!
Yet, this is not nearly the whole story – there is a strong emotional investment – a sense of enrichment, support to explore new and uncertain grounds, to find expression media in which we excel, encouragement, learning, growth, artistic and intellectual.
And that leads us to looking ahead, our big plans…The next year will see the completion of our ‘Close to Heart’ project. It will be the year of publishing, 3D, pop-up galleries and large acrylics…speaking of daydreams.
Let’s celebrate this season with gifts of art, and let’s dream of artistic things to come, exciting, fusing beautiful and socially engaged, witty and emotionally invested, brainy and harmonious, colorful and three-dimensional, abstract and earthly…
